Spurs position themselves well after spring break!

Spurs u13s and u14s came back after the Spring Break in good form with both teams beating Concorde Fire in their respective divisions.

The u13s played away in Milton and goals from Ducci Montana (2) and Jaden Dawson claimed the victory. Jaden Dawson has top scored for the u13s this Spring and he seems to score in every game. Coach Ted MacDougall spoke after the game. "I was delighted with Montana's goals. He has missed some opportunities this season but today his goals were top drawer. The header was an excellent finish." The 3-0 win takes them to second in Classic 4 Blue.

Spurs u14s Boys went top of Classic 2 with a excellent 3-0 win vs a Concorde Fire team that has never beaten them. Two goals from big Jack Barringer and Nate Leopold's fourth of the season took the game away from Concorde. "We needed to make changes at the kick off as players were missing from the initial line up. The players who stepped in were magnificent and I have real competition for places now! We are top of Classic 2 because we have stuck together over the last 2 years when times were hard. The improvement has been there even when we have lost. Whether we stay top or finish in the middle, I am very proud of this season."

Both teams are in action this coming weekend and everyone at Spurs will be hoping to see continued progress!

Both Spurs U13s & U14s start the spring well!

So Far, the Spring of 2012 is going very well for our Spurs u13s and u14s. After losing their first games, they are both unbeaten with 3 wins each. March 18th proved to be an amazing day for the u13s as they won 12-0! Ducci Montana scoring a hat-trick and Jaden Dawson again getting goals. Jaden has been playing very well in the middle of midfield and some of his goals have been outstanding. "He has hit some quality strikes, Coach Ted MacDougall said, they have been good enough to score at any level and we hope he continues to improve and score more"

The u14s have added six new players and released four. "Its basically a new team, stated Coach Paul Smith, we are slowly getting them to gel and I will be happy to take this group into the Fall season intact and organized." The u14s have played a more attacking style this spring and have already scored more than in the Fall. "We have players who can hurt the opposition now, Smith added, those players are the reason for the extra goals and if we can still be hard to score on at the back then we should start to climb the league."

Both teams play on Saturday March 24th and then have a break until April 14th when they start back up after Spring Break and Easter. Another win for both teams would see them sitting pretty at the top of their leagues and they can go and enjoy Easter knowing that half their work is done!

Atlanta Spurs Announce New Tournament Partnership!

A deal was agreed on Wednesday March 14th to partner with Premier Soccer Services, LLC. This agreement will provide two top class tournaments for Spurs in 2012/13. The partnership will insure that Spurs FC get the best hotels, fields and discounts in the cities where the tournaments are held.

The first tournament will be held in Murfreesboro, TN over Labor Day weekend. The host city will be providing red carpet hospitality and a soccer complex that has hosted the 2011 USYS Region III Championships!

The second tournament takes place April 12th in Decatur AL. Their Jack Allen Soccer Complex is widely acknowledged as the "best in the south" and our players will love being a part of a truly "international" tournament, with teams from Mexico, Asia and Europe attending.

Spurs Vice President, Paul Smith enthused, "we are honored to have been invited into these tournaments, it shows how far we have come as a club and how quickly our reputation has spread around the south. The players will love the luxury of the facilities and being treated like pros! We want our teams to stay in the same hotel, bond together and foster a club spirit, these tourney's allows us to do so."

President of Premier Soccer Services, Scott Spencer adds, "Spurs are an up and coming club with top class coaches, their teams are exactly what we want in our tournament and we are excited to have them."

U14 Boys Win 6-5 Stunner!

Sunday March 11th marked an amazing win for Spurs u14s! 4-2 down at half time, they rallied back to win 6-5! " It was a remarkable game, said Coach Paul Smith, we knew after 10 minutes that there would be goals in the game, but not 11!" Six different scorers got the goals with an own goal after good work on the right by Luke Speed finally claiming victory. Nate Leopold, Misa Nava, Armando Gallardo, Naveed Mantifor and Devon Ward were the hero's and Coach Smith added, "We have brought in six new players over the winter break and we still have not worked on any team shape or defending. I'm delighted to score six, but we need to improve our defending. If we can get everyone gelling together, we may have quite a team here."

Jaden Dawson grabs a Hat-Trick!

Jaden Dawson was on fire in the u13s game vs Southern Soccer Academy. He scored all 3 in the teams first win at Classic 4 Level. "The first goal was very special, noted Coach Ted MacDougall, he was at least 25 yards out from goal and hit the ball into the side netting. Pro keepers would not have stopped that!" It is hoped that Jaden can continue to shine as the u13s learn about life in a higher league.
